Wisely Disguised Pursuit: Our Lord has given instructions about how to engage our faith in a credible yet in a careful manner. Knowing that His Disciples would be His witnesses within the hostile Roman culture… Jesus instructed them “Be wise as serpents and gentle as doves.” (Matt. 10:16)
- Snakes are known for avoiding danger and not exerting their energy or venom before they right occasion. POINT: We need to become wisely disguised and not flaunt our Christian view before people know it will create problems and controversy.
- Doves are known for being gentle, not forceful. POINT: When we engage with people we must be noticeably gentle and not pushy.
- Boldness is not measured by how strong and enthusiastic I can express what I believe in a given situation. Rather it is how clear and convincing my faith in God is evident to those around me. My life should be a bold statement, not just loud words.
Set a part Christ as Lord in your life, and be ready to give an answer to those who ask you to give a reason for the hope that is in you. (1 Peter 3:15)
