Bringing the Gospel to the Work-Culture

Bringing the Gospel to people in today’s work-culture involves a process as well as a proclamation. Jesus describe two kind of people involved in His harvest. First, there are those who sow and cultivate through their connections with people. Second, there are those who take part in the final aspects of reaping. Jesus does not put value on one being more important than the other, but rather both are needed, and a valuable part of HIS Harvesting process. Jesus pointed out that someday both sower and the reaper would rejoice together in the great harvest (John 4:35-38). So, how do you see yourself involved in one or both aspect? (1 Corinthians 3:6-8)

Sowers…

  1. Sow by laboring in prayer for your co-workers, and company leaders. (1 Tim. 2:1-3)
  2. Sow seeds by doing deeds that reflect our heavenly Father’s character (Matthew 5:16). It should not be a matter of whether you think they deserve it or not (Matthew 5:44-45).
  3. Sowing with consistency… Peter instructed the wife of a non-Christian husband, to win him without words, through her ongoing godly behavior (1Peter 3:1-2). Family, friends or people around us often, need to see that our actions attest to what we believe about God (Titus 2:9-10).
  4. Sow small seeds of truth… by saying a simple phrase that draws attention to God in a simple way, and fits with the subject of the conversation. Also, sharing a brief part of your personal testimony can be personal and genuine.
  5. Sowing at times require further cultivation with people, which could incite more questions and inquiry from them. Paul’s opportunity with the philosophers at Mars Hill came because they did not accept his beliefs, yet they were intrigued by it and wanted to hear more (Act 17:16-21). This lead to additional opportunity later, when some of them meet with Paul were told more. It resulted in some believing in Christ (Acts 17:22-34).

Reapers….

  1. Reaping consist of you being ready to share the Gospel, which mean you know the gospel content in order to share it: (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 1:16).
  2. Reaping of those dependent on the Holy Spirit’s convicting work, instead of you trying to coerce a person to believe. Present the Gospel as an invitation (Romans 10:9).
  3. Be sensitive to the people around you by being aware that other Christians may have labored in sowing and cultivating in this person’s life… God may have them ready for you to reap.
  4. Reaping may also consist of you inviting a person to come with you to your church or special meeting, to hear the gospel through a message or testimony.

Being a Bold witness come in two ways… First Boldness can entails speaking up directly about Christ. Secondly, boldness also is displaying in our actions the characteristic of the Gospel… love, patience, and forgiveness, to those who observe us(1 Peter 2:12).
