Creating Connections… Scott’s Story

Meet Scott Bowman

Thirty year ago when Scott became a new Christian he thought, he should quick his job for a high calling, in order to reach people with this wonder news that changed his life. But it didn’t take long… Scott soon realized that he did not need a higher calling, and that God would provide opportunities naturally through how he performed his work and treated people. Scott saw many wonderful opportunities for him to show and share his faith to those in his workplace….

Here's Scotts Story!

“As I sit here around the table with other people, some believers, some not. I began to think about the last 30 years. The last 30 years at work, yes that’s right, work. What I witnessed God do is way more than I could have imagined. The relationships built, the highs, and the lows of ministry. I’ve witnessed several people come to Christ, many grow in their faith, the opportunity to be a peacemaker, people praying for each other and God answering those prayers. What made this happen?  Having a group of believers meeting together consistently in the workplace. I had the opportunity to lead a young man to Christ because of the friendship we built at work. Years later, that same man was asked to walk a couple’s son through the hanger because he was interested in becoming an Aircraft Mechanic. After the tour, the mother said, “I don’t think I want my son working in a secular workplace.” My friend’s response was, “because of a man ministering to me at this “secular workplace” I become a Christian.” On another occasion, after one of our group meetings was over as we went back to work, one person who attended the meeting was asked by an unbeliever, what church is that? His reply was none of us go to the same church. We are unified by our relationship with Jesus. When believers connect and build relationships in the workplace, great things will happen.  As I look back, I’m amazed at the ministry opportunities that God has given me in a place where I must be, we must work. I didn’t have to pack my bags, get financial support, or leave my extended family and country. He did it through me right where he put me. In a secular workplace.”
